Power for Today was begun by faith in 1955.
Motivated by a strong desire to encourage daily Bible study as a family unit, the founding members--
Batsell Barrett Baxter
G. Willard Collins
George W. DeHoff
Jim Bill McInteer
Paul W. Moore
Winston M. Moore
J. P. Sanders
M. Norvel and Helen M. Young, Managing Editors
trusted God to use their simple devotional guide as a seed, when the first article was written. In 1972, the Youngs passed the managing editorial duties to Steven and Emily Lemley, the current editors of Power for Today.
The Lemley's perspective is unchanged from the day they began their work: "Each copy is sent with our prayers that it will be of spiritual strength to you." They have not wavered from these words of their first editorial, as they wrote of deepening the effect of God's power in one's life.
It was a call to expectant living. It is the same today, culminated with the thought--
Think on these things:
God loves you.
You are forgiven.
Jesus is coming again.
